Vladimir Putin called the allegations nonsense and politically motivated. He said Moscow is rather expanding gas supplies to Europe and seeking to ease the crisis there. His comments came as concerns grow over soaring gas prices in Europe amid high demand before the winter. Meanwhile, the European Commission has announced a package of measures to alleviate the problem. This includes the approval of tax cuts and the joint purchase of fuel by EU member states.
